**We reserve the right to stop anyone from performing if we deem necessary because of distasteful music, costuming, or other.
*Winners will be chosen by adding their individual scores from each of the judges in a variety of categories. If for some reason there is a tie the judges will convene and choose a winner together. There will be a Winner (1st place) , Runner up (2nd) and third place (3rd) in the Professional and Junior Categories and One People’s Choice Award in each of the two categories. The People’s Choice Awards will be chosen from ballots handed out to the audience prior to the contest and will be retrieved from the audience after said category and votes for individuals counted. We will have a certified public account that will be in charge of adding all of the votes with an assistant.

Professional Category - RAKSTAR: Must have 6 or more years of professional dance experience
Junior Professional Category-STARLETTE and MR. RAKSTAR: Must have 3-5 years of professional dance experience.
GROUP: RAKSTAR: Age range: 16 years old + (3 members minimum)
*SOLOIST contestants must be registered for at least ONE FULL DAY of workshops at the Rakstar event.
*ADULT GROUP: Every member must be register for at least ONE workshop at the Rakstar event. Proof of workshop's registration of each member is required.
*Only original choreography accepted.
*Professional grade music quality & sound on CD with a backup CD, must be turned in by September 15, 2012.
*5 minute limit for each individual or group in either category. Anything which exceeds the time limit will be cut off!
*Arabic Oriental music only. No folklore or fusion.
*No props allowed with the exception of a veil or wings for an entrance.
*Performance must be onstage.
*Entries are limited to 10 in each category.
*All contestants must fill in a Performer Form and Performer Release Form and this must be turned in by Sept 07, 2012.
*Contestants may enter in one category or the other. If you are a contestant performing you may not perform a second time in the Gala Show unless you are with a group.
